Hey there! I am Laura, the owner and founder of Drink and Draw. I would like to tell you the story of how we ended up here and what it is all about...

I am originally from Estonia, and this is where I started to attend Drink and Draw Estonia sessions. Even though I dropped out of art school to pursue other stuff, I still wanted to practise my drawing skills from time to time.

Sessions were organised by Toon Vugts, talented Dutch illustrator. I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere that was created during the sessions: it was informal, relaxed, but also well-structured.

After a few years, I moved to Amsterdam to study and work. However, I did miss the creative part of my life which was largely abandoned. I also could not find any existing life drawing events with the same name, so I’ve decided to create my own.

I’ve arranged the spot with Sissi’s Expo, our first expo, and published an event on social media. And that’s pretty much it! As soon as more people started joining us, we’ve expanded to other venues.

So what is Drink & Draw about?

To me, it’s about bringing people (in this case, models and artists) together and practising my life drawing skills. Also, it’s about making meaningful connections and just, frankly, having fun :)

I am happy to see so many different people from various backgrounds finding their own reasons to try out the sessions and even becoming regulars. This definitely makes all the effort worth it!
